I still don't get about a "doll" one and hands back there. Do you still remember your inspiration on this picture? Personally I don't believe in whatever people said. It's just hallucinate I said nothing more.
I don't find this painting at all haunting. It's well done, and meaningful, but I do not find myself frightened at all. I was on wikipedia and a few other sites and read about the sybolism of the peice. The idea of the hands being the different lives to chose from was really nifty to me. Now that was on Wiki so maybe it shouldn't be trusted, but either way I do admire your skills as an artist
I'm using this painting for my art history work for my A-level, I find it really interesting and I hope I have your permission to use this as part of my research into other artists. Personally I see this as a brilliant piece of art in both skill and concept.
I'm not going to lie to you, this painting scared me when I was 13 or so. It doesn't scare me anymore, though.
You did a very good job on this painting. The colors and the values are outstanding. The characters depicted in the painting have so much emotion, it's amazing. I could go on and on about how great this painting is!
As amazing as it is even you, as the artist, must see how people can get creeped out by it. I'm not saying it's haunted or anything- just mildly disturbing. I mean, seemingly disembodied hands pressed against the glass, a free-standing doll holding a bundle of wires(?), and a boy with the dead glare of a sociopath.
I must admit, at first, I found this painting to be a bit desturbing. I first saw it 3 days aga after my boyfriend found chapter about it in one of his haunting books. I myself, being interested in anything occult related looked it up. Ever since then I have looked at this painting at least one a day, attempting to determine why I find myself both drawn to it and repelled by it.
I just came across this, I am absolutely enamored by your painting sir. I have been searching the net over, for a poster of it to no avail.
Kindly make it available on canvas as a painting, I would love to hang it in my room.
I feel like, it's so erie, like there's some dark story behind it. I personally love the unknown, and the black mysterious, so just looking at it without too much analyzation leaves me with a satisfying chill.
dude is this really haunted? i mean even if it wasnt haunted i would still pee myself looking at it lol. naw i really like this painting. it has a fascinating story too it. im a huge paranormal enthusiast lol.
There's something really "disturbing" in the painting, anyway not everyone tends to get "impressed" by same subject, it's something working in subconsciuos.
The color in this image results more "vivid" than in other photos you can find on internet, wich are the real ones? Time has taken its toll on colors or photos posted by ebay seller were desaturated to give a more "dark" feel?
you have an account since 2 days on dA - omg yesterday was first time i have seen this picture - on youtube. then i searched in google - didnt find good quality pic of this one. searched on dA and found it. it´s like it was wating for me horrible
I'm glad to see this powerful painting finally posted here by the artist who did it. I've always been drawn to this painting for unknown reasons. I've never found it 'frightening', more so like a puzzle I'd like to solve someday. if that makes sense.
The hidden is always more powerful left to the imagination of the viewer. Some years ago a Texas radio show did a Halloween contest with a full sized replica of 'Hands' as the prize. The best thousand word story about the painting would win. I read probably eighty stories altogether. The majority were the writers own fears of drunkenness and child abuse, it was Texas after all, but a young woman wrote a lovely story from the paintings' point of view, not the viewers a kind of reverse Alice through the looking glass, she had set aside the obvious looking for the archetypal.
can't judge a state by one person imo. his mistakes are his own, he gives the rest who live in that state a bad name :\ I've had people here in MO throw rocks or the likes at me for being Texan, blaming me for Bush.
But no worries I got stuff against states my self. everyone has their own opinion and I don't judge by what others say.
